Chicken Rice Syukran opened in Seksyen 13 with one dish on the menu: silky Hainanese chicken rice, steamed in fragrant broth and served the way it's done across the Causeway. Almost seven years on, the pot still simmers the same way it did on day one.
Singapore taught us the method. Shah Alam taught us who we're cooking for — the regulars who've been coming since the first month, the office crowd who shape the lunch queue, and the families who've made Saturday dinner a small tradition here.
Over time, the menu grew to include the Singapore-style dishes we grew up on and the Malaysian favourites our neighbours asked for — chicken rice at the centre, everything else built around it.
